KODA is a 3 year old Alaskan Malamute that was surrendered to a local humane society following the divorce of his owners. While he had been diagnosed with hip dysplasia and arthritis at just 1 year old, the humane society staff noticed that his hip dysplasia had advanced significantly in the two years since his evaluation and being surrendered. As they were unable to cover the surgery needed to improve Koda’s quality of life they needed to consider other options and reached out to WAMAL.
Luckily for Koda–a staff favorite at the humane society–a couple came by to donate items from a previous companion pet on Christmas Eve. Though they weren’t looking for a new love, they were smitten when they saw Koda. They’re committed to the challenge of fostering and rehabbing this youngster through the needed surgeries to help him live his best life, jumping and running like other dogs his age. WAMAL is able to bring Koda into rescue thanks to his committed fosters and we’re all working on a bilateral hip replacement for him.
Please consider donating to give Koda a second chance in life.
